1/12/2011 - Revenue Canada’s Policy for Gifts and Awards for 2010

We are frequently asked for the taxation policy that relates to taxable benefits for gifts and awards. Are there different rules for each?  I have attached the updated Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) Policy Changes for 2010 which will be very informative for you and your clients. After reading the Technical News Article (#40), you will have proof that clients should be using logoed merchandise for their awards and gifts instead of giving cash or near-cash gifts/awards to their employees.
